We’re sure you’ve seen it on TV when the Olympics was being broadcasted or you’ve seen some of your friends post pictures of their Ice Curling gear but you’ve never really understood what the sport was all about. On your Bratislava stag do we’re giving you the chance to find out what it’s all about! 

Ice Curling is one of the least understood Olympic sport. Unlike the more popular sports that are easy to understand even if you’ve watched just one match, Ice Curling takes some explaining before it can be really appreciated. For one, Ice Curling involves this massive glass wheel that the athlete slides down a path of ice followed by two teammates desperately and aggressively shouting at the wheel or each other while sweeping the ice. If you didn’t know what Ice Curling was, that definition alone is going to make you think the person explaining it was making a fool out of you.

But that’s exactly what Ice Curling is! It’s an Olympic sport played on ice by three athletes. One of them is tasked with sliding the glass wheel, which is called a ‘stone’ in Ice Curling to a certain marked area on the ice. On the stone’s way to that area, the other two must do their best to scrub on the ice with their brooms to smoothen the ice dotted with tiny bumps in order to lead the stone in the right direction.
